Description: Photo of Robert Collyer, Famed Unitarian Clergyman Taken at Kensett on the Sound, Connecticut 1876 Centennial This antique cabinet card photo was taken of famed Unitarian clergyman, Robert Collyer, at the Centennial in 1876. Writing on the back further identifies the location as Kensett on the Sound in Connecticut. I found an ad in the December 29, 1887 issue of The New England Journal of Medicine that describes Kensett on the Sound as a place for the care and treatment of persons suffering from mild forms of insanity, nervous diseases, and those addicted to stimulants and narcotics. There's a piece of paper affixed to the back that appears to be Collyer's signature/autograph with the date 1892. The photo is mounted to a card that measures 8 3/8" x 5 1/4". The photo is 7 7/16" x 4 7/16". The card has damage and wear to the corners and edges. The photo is in very nice condition. Please see the images provided, as they're part of the description.
