Elegant and very attractive full coarse grained morocco leather binding, with gilt titled spines, top page edges gilt, others tanned and spotted, marbled end papers and elaborate inner gilt dentelles. Pierre Loti (pseudonym of Louis Marie-Julien Viaud (1850–1923)) was a French naval officer and novelist, known for his exotic novels and short stories. Comprising the following: Figures et choses qui Passaient (dated 1898); La Mort de Philae; Ramuntcho; Au Maroc; Propos d'Exil; Aziyadé; Fleurs d'Ennui; Le Roman d'un Spahi; Fantôme d'Orient; Le Livre de la Pitié et de la Mort; Pêcheur d'Islande (English translation An Iceland Fisherman); Turquie Agonisante. An English translation, Turkey in Agony, was published in the same year.; Jérusalem; Le Château de la Belle au Bois dormant; Le Mariage de Loti (originally titled Rarahu; Les Derniers Jours de Pékin; Vers Ispahan; Mon Frère Yves, (English translation My Brother Yves); Madame Chrysanthème; L'Exilée; Le Roman d'un Enfant; Matelot; La Galilée; Les Désenchantées; Reflets sur la Sombre Route; Japoneries d'Automne; La Troisième Jeunesse de Madame Prune; Le Désert; L'Inde (sans les Anglais). One volume jointly authored by Loti and Gautier – La Fille du Ciel. It would appear that this is the bulk of his work – another ten titles authored by Loti exist and a further three published posthumously.
