Among the most rare, compelling, and virtually undocumented Fender Japan Telecasters, this guitar is a faithful recreation of Roy Buchanan’s iconic Bluesmaster (also played by George Harrison), originally custom-built for the legendary Tele pioneer by the Fritz Brothers, Roger and John. The official Fender-branded version of that Tele was crafted in Japan at the Fujigen factory as part of the Order Made program, which offered a bevy of non-catalog finish and component options. Features include a Nashville-style SSS trio of EMG SA single coil pickups, active electronics, a 22-fret slab rosewood fretboard, brass nut, and six-saddle bridge. The trio of EMG SA active single coil pickups feature Alnico V bar magnet construction, delivering the sparkle, cut, and sweetness of a classic single coil with hum-free performance. The SAs have notable midrange warmth and creaminess, with a taut snap towards the bridge, fuller, bell-like qualities at the neck, and notably punchy, hollow quack at the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector.
