Description: This is an original antique (late 19th century) hanging oil lamp that originally had the pull-down feature with spring coil in the top, but it has been modified to hang from chains attached to a simple (replacement) ceiling canopy with no pull-down mechanism. The lamp has not been electrified and has a complete glass oil font with burner and chimney inside. The lamp is an unusual example of an arts & crafts style library lamp with matching brass font holder and perforated brass shade. The entire piece is in excellent condition and has not been repaired or repainted anywhere. The shade ring has prisms hung from the bottom all the way around, except near one side where there are a couple broken tabs where prisms once hung. The missing tabs are not noticeable as they are near a spot where the arms connect to the ring and there is a gap in the prisms anyway. The original gold finish has a naturally darkened, aged patina throughout. The entire piece is sturdy, solid, and fully functional. There is no mounting hardware inside the ceiling canopy, so mounting hardware will need to be added. The lamp measures 14" in diameter at the shade and hangs down a total of 40" from the ceiling. All pieces will be packed securely and fully insured during shipping. Please provide a street address as this will not be delivered to a PO Box. Advertised shipping cost covers shipping within the lower 48 states only. Please ask for a shipping quote to AK, HI, or Puerto Rico.
