Description: This enormous oval soup tureen with a lid is in the Rhine pattern, made around the mid-1800s. The maker of this pattern is listed as unknown, and it has no maker marks, just the pattern name on the base. It is a beautiful blue-gray transfer design of people along a river with trees and a castle. This scene is on both sides of the tureen and in the interior. There are also scrolls, flowers, and rope designs on the handles. This measures approximately 14" from handle to handle, 9" wide, and 8 1/4" tall to the top of the lid. It weighs about 5 pounds 4 ounces. There is one chip on the top of the foot; it measures about 3/8 of an inch wide. There are no other chips or cracks. There is crazing and some stains and surface marks, but it looks fantastic overall. Please see my pictures, and thanks for looking! Fragile items are packaged securely and with care.
