In addition, a Noctua fan has been installed (and can be removed) to keep the chip cool - a $75 value96 GB of 1333 MHz RAM running in triple channel configuration - the computer supports up to 128GB but performance deteriorates - a $150 valueThe Bluetooth/Wifi card of the computer has been upgraded to support natively OS X Monterey. In addition, to improve the Bluetooth performance of the computer (which by default is terrible), an antenna has been seamlessly added to the back of the case and a cable threaded to it - a $150 valueA MacVidCards Asus 5700XT graphics card is installed - which is one of the fastest cards you can install in this computer without needing the Pixlas power modification. One of the benefits of these blades is that unlike NVME blades they allow you to boot into any Mac OS operating systemA flashed Titan Ridge card provides Thunderbolt capabilities to this computer. I searched the internet and found the cables needed enable the card to support USB 2.0 - so they are coming with the card (and a hole has been dremeled into the back of the card to allow these cables to be threaded outside the case of the computer seamlessly) - a $200 valueAn Orico USB card provides USB 3.0 connectivity - a $40 valueThe computer comes with a 2TB Samsung EVO 860 SSD drive (on which Montery is installed) and a 500GB WD RED SSD drive (on which Mojave is installed)- a $250 valueThe computer comes with an extra power supply -a $150 value The computer comes with a fresh install of OS Monterey and Mojave CPU Bay Processor· Your computer comes with 2 x 6 core 3.46 GHz Westmere Xeon processors – the fastest processors that are supported by this Mac. While installing the processors, I also replaced the plastic tabs holding the North ridge chip (which tend to fail) with metal ones and repasted it. · As the NorthBridge chip can be impacted by high temperatures in the long term, I have also installed a Noctua fan that is controlled by dial wheel that keeps the Northbridge chip cool. Before using the computer, please make sure the Noctua fan is positioned at an angle facing towards the NorthBridge chip · Please bear in mind that the fan & USB 3.0 card are powered by one of the hard drive trays in the main compartment of the computer Memory· The computer comes with 6 x 16GB memory sticks running at 1333MHZ for a total of 96GB RAM· While the computer can run with 8 x 16GB memory sticks, I have only installed six as this allows the computer to run in a triple-channel memory configuration which increases its performance Bluetooth / Wifi· The Bluetooth/ WiFi card of the computer has been upgraded to support OS Monterey· This computer was typically plagued by poor Bluetooth connectivity. As a result, I have installed an internal antenna extender that has been threaded to the back of the PCIe slots and is connected to an external antenna Storage Bay Graphics card· The computer comes with an Asus 5700XT graphics card that has been modified by MacVidCards Europe to provide you with a boot screen. This means that when you start your Mac, if you hold the option button, you will have the option to choose the drive your want to start up from· The card has 3 display port and 1 HDMI connector· This is one of the fastest cards available that do not require you to modify your power supply(Pixlas Mod)· The card has a slim profile, so it allows you to install an additional 3 PCIe cards in your MacPro. It has been installed in the lowest PCI slot as it requires 16x bandwidth· When you work in the main compartment of the computer, once you close it please make sure no wires touch the video card RAID card· The computer comes with a pre-installed Amfeltec Squid 16x PCIe 4-slot NVME card that is populated by 4 Kingston HyperX Predator AHCI 1TB blades. The blades have been combined in a 4TB RAID 0 that provides speeds of up to 5000+ MB/s · The benefit of using AHCI blades is that they can boot any Mac Operating System, while NVMe blades only support booting from High Sierra onwards· A hole has been drilled in the back of the card to mount the Bluetooth antenna of the computer USB 3.0 card· The computer comes with an Orico USB 3.0 card with 4 USB 3.0 ports· The card (as well as the Noctua fan in the CPU bay) is powered by the power supply of one of the drives in the main bay. If interested in an alternate option, let me know and I can advise you on potential options Thunderbolt Titan Ridge card· The computers comes with a pre-installed Titan Ridge thunderbolt card· The card needs to be installed in PCIe slot 4 to operate· The card provides 2 thunderbolt, a display port and 2 mini display port connectors (the card requires to be connected to your video card to provide video out)· The card as configured when purchased does not support USB 2.0 – which is frustrating. I sourced a connector and the necessary cables to enable each of the thunderbolt ports of the card to support USB 2.0 – but that requires two usb connections to the ports at the back of your mac. As a result, I cut a small piece of the card off to enable the necessary cable to pass through Sleds· The computer comes with two pre-populated 2.5” sleds and one empty 3.5” sled that can support large capacity drives· The computer comes with a 2TB Samsung EVO 860 SSD drive (on which Montery is installed) and a 500GB WD RED SSD drive (on which Mojave is installed) Upper Bay· The computer comes with a SuperDrive· The power supply is in great condition. Unit also comes with a backup power supply so that you can rest assured if something happens, you have a backup readily available Case· The case is in good shape with minor marks I tried to capture in my pictures Operating system· The computer comes with Mac OS Mojave & Monterey 12.6.2 freshly pre-installed. The user name & password is “user”· If you have any questions about OpenCore, which is necessary to run Monterey, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me
