Description: This pre-owned plate is in good condition. No chips or cracks. There is a line from what appears to be the transferware. See my photos. This plate depicts General George Washington’s at Fraunces Tavern in New York City giving his farewell to his officers of the Continental Army who fought during the American Revolutionary War. On December 4, 1783, he said to these officers, “With a heart full of love and gratitude, I now take leave of you. I most devoutly wish that your latter days may be as prosperous and happy as your former ones have been glorious and honorable.” Fraunces Tavern is located at 54 Pearl Street at the corner of Broad Street in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan. It is still in existence as a museum and restaurant. Check out my photographs for a visual description and let me know of any questions you may have. The image included of Valentine’s magazine is just for historical purposes. That is not included in what is for sale.
