Description: The art panel shown used very high voltage discharges to create Lichtenberg patterns. My approach is to coax the patterns in various directions and maximize the delicate fractals. Once complete, wood colorants are used to enhance wood grain and create a more complete picture. The heart in the center is deliberately scorched (shou sugi ban), symbolizing being burned in love yet preserving what is inside. I use a color preservative, followed by 2 thin coats of polyurethane for a low shine that is smooth when touched and intended to be displayed indoors for many years.
