Description: Very rare, mid century, vintage, Gwen Frostic hand signed in pencil block print " Trees on the Pond" framed 12" x 16", visible image is 7" wide & 9 1//2" height. Gwen Frostic, a prolific artist was born in Michigan 1906 & passed away in 2001. Her career as an educator & artist includes metal art work & block print making. Gwen began creating metal working art early in her career & changed to crating block print art during WWII due to shortages of metal materials. Her change to print making using the Linocut style, printing on Heidelberg Platten printing press. During WWII Gwen worked as a tool & die department draftsperson at Willow Run Bomber factory a division of Ford Motor Co. Professionally framed and matted, aluminum frame & bark brown mat. Frame does not include glass which we understand to be the original intention of the artist Condition is very good, signed print is in excellent condition. Both aluminum frame & mat very good condition, minor wear consistent with age of this item. Please se our pictures!
