Description: From my anti-slavery collection, I offer a PCGS certified AU55 Sierra Leone copper one penny piece dated 1791. The scans were taken thru the plastic and the coin is much nicer than shown. The clasped hands celebrated the fact that it was a refuge for freed slaves from the British Empire, runaway slaves from the United States and Africans discharged from the British armed forces. Unfortunately, the first settlers were just about wiped out by tribal attacks and disease. The colony was re-established under the control of the Sierra Leone Company which issued this coin, and then transferred to the British Crown in 1807. Obverse. Crouching Lion SIERRA LEONE COMPANY AFRICA. Reverse. Clasped hands ONE CENT PIECE 1791. Certified as AU55 by PCGS. I think they were brutal as I see no sign of wear. Perhaps the rim cuds which are present and are not a flaw. A nice addition to your anti-slavery collection. See the scans. U.S. shipping is $4. It will cost me more. PayPal preferred. I am always open to offers on any of my listings. Just ask. Worst thing is I say no.I COMBINE SHIPPING USUALY ADDING NOTHING AND WHEN I DO ONLY ENOUGH TO COVER ADDITIONAL INSURANCE OR POSTAGE.
