Vintage 1960's Atlas DS-14 "boomerang" microphone stand cast iron DS5 DS7 DS10 3

Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a unique and popular 1960's era Atlas DS-14 model "boomerang" brand mic stand which was a very modern / contemporary design at that time and comes with it's original painted cast iron base and 4 inch chrome riser as well as an Atlas GN-6 gooseneck and a Switchcraft female XLR adapter. This stand was copied by both Astatic and a few Japanese brands but the Atlas DS-14 was the original and made for roughly 30 years before being discontinued. Pic # 2 shows this very model as well as several others in an old Atlas catalog I have. You can mount any XLR mic clip of choice to this model stand. You'll see that the Switchcraft adapter at the end of the mic acts as the support for the mic. Simply slide you mic onto the adapter and it locks into place. This stand is ideal for smaller, less heavy XLR mics however. You could use a Shure SM-58 on this of course but an E.V RE10, RE11, RE15 or 627 model mic is more ideal as they are roughly half the weight of a Shure SM58. A Shure 545SD would be great though. Do know that the cable that attaches to the XLR adapter ends in the Amphenol 5/8 X 27 connection and has the female 1/4 inch adapter on the end of that. You won't be able to use an XLR cable on this unless you completely rewire the cable. The cable is soft, pliable and 14 inches long. The Atlas GN-6 gooseneck is in excellent condition and gives you a bit more height and angle to work with as well. The stand is a very light weight design with a wide stance making this ideal for most all microphones. The stand has what I describe as a Start Trek vibe. You can see that the original black paint is very nice with zero tiny paint chips. No corrosion and the the chrome riser is very nice overall. The stand is appx 6 inches deep X 5 inches wide X 12 inches tall but can be lowered if needed. It has 3 new felt pads on the bottom to keep it from scratching any surface it rests on. Overall I would rate this mic stand an 9 on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department. MICROPHONE SHOWN ON STAND IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
