Description: FROM THE ESTATE OF A LONG TIME POCKET WATCH COLLECTOR!Rare vintage (1930's-40's) Longines 17 jewel Canadian RR Grade pocket watch. Watch movement grade is Express Leader, which was a Canadian RR Approved watch grade. This watch is a size 16s , openface, lever set movement with nickel finish and gilt lettering. The 24 hour, double-sunk, Canadian dial is bright white with black & red Arabic Numerals and is marked Riddell & Vinet. Numerals 1- 12 are black, while 13 - 24 are red. Kite style watch hands appear to have been painted over original finish. Please study the photos as there are hairline cracks on dial face near numeral 2 as well as in the center sunken area radiating out from stem roughly from red 13 to red 6. We believe the watch was made for marketing by Riddell & Vinet in St. Charles Quebec. 3 finger bridge movement is clean with a nickel finish and is marked LONGINES EXPRESS LEADER along with SAFETY PINION and ADJUSTED IN 5 POSITIONS 17JEWELS. Movement SN is 1875103 Movement is housed in an American Watch Case Co of Toronto Fortune 10k Gold Filled screw-on front and back bezel case. Case is plain polish with light scratches and back is hand engraved Henry Bourassa St. Johns Que. There is no brassing evident on the case, just minor scratches, likewise the glass crystal is in very nice condition with just minor scratches. Watch winds and sets easily and keeps good time.
