Description: Vintage, Excellent Condition and all original , A Vintage Stanley Bailey No 5 jacks plane. It is approx 14 inches long with a blade width of 2 inches. It has the features of a type 19 making the manufacture date between 1948 to 1961, about 70 years ago. The last of the super high quality Bailey series planes produced by Stanley. And the last of the Rosewood handles. Metal bed and all other metal parts are excellent, no cracks breaks, or repairs. I placed a straight edge along the sole and it appears perfectly straight, no warping, see photo. Black jappaning finish is great more than 95 percent. The premium Brazilian Rosewood handles are excellent and they look beautiful, no breaks chips, cracks or repairs. The blade is original notched logo, its full length and has been freshly sharpened with the correct 25 degree bevel. The chip breaker edge has been flattened where is meets up with the blade, see last photo. This plane has the important frog adjustment screw and All adjustments move and work smoothly. My goal is to place as many of these high quality made in the USA vintage hand tools back into the hands of today’s craftsmen. I would never “part out” a good tool just for the proceeds. If the tool I have acquired is serviceable I will put it into as good of condition it can be and sell to friends or on eBay.
