Description: A rare back-set-and-wind mechanical watch from Swiss watchmaker Voumard, whose horological history dates back to 1848, this Voumard 2000 is uncommon in this condition and virtually impossible to find with its original coffin-link bracelet. (Because of the uncommon 19mm lug width and the case shape, these are almost always found with leather straps, expanding bracelets or mesh bracelets; none of which fill the lug spaces to compliment the watch case.) The 17 jewel movement is wound by turning the case back crown counter-clockwise. Time is set by pulling the crown out one step. Quick date setting is via a method common to older Swiss mechanical movements (set the watch to around midnight when the date changes. Once the date changes, set the watch back to around 8:30pm, and move forward towards midnight again to advance another day.)The bracelet features a set of expanding links that fold into the clasp, permitting a wrist size of up to 8 inches. A novel feature of the watch is that the entire movement (with crystal) can be removed from the case from the rear, and repositioned at any angle. Service history is unknown but winding and setting are smooth, and the reserve is observed to exceed 24 hours. As this is a vintage mechanical timepiece, it is being sold as-is. Please feel free to ask questions.
